This year we have partnered with Foolhardy Hill to enhance and expand the experience of our program. We are now offering 2 nights at the Foolhardy Hill campground with each guided freshwater fly fishing trip!
The idea being, we get together Friday evening, hang out at camp, wake up Saturday morning eat breakfast and then meet up with the Harrison Angler guides. We float the river for most of the day on Saturday, (usually from around 8am-4pm) and eat lunch on the river. After a day on the river we return to camp for dinner and to hang out around the campfire before crashing in one of the cabins.
We strongly suggest, when you apply for a trip, to be prepared to spend at least one (if not both) nights with us at the camp. Being able to roll out of bed and basically be right on the river is a game changer! Likewise, when you get off the river after having a nice relaxing day, to be able to cap that off sitting by the fire under the stars is just the best. And WOW the stars on a clear night out there...! You have to see it to believe it; truly awesome.
The owners and hosts of Foolhardy and amazing! Katie and her husband Biddy clearly care about the camp they have developed, and that care extends to the people who stay there.
Oden, one of their four legged furry companions, might be the fan favorite of camp hosts.
A few of the great features at Foolhardy include:
-Outdoor Kitchen is equipped with two large propane grills, cooking utensils, pots/pans/serving bowls, counter space and bar top, picnic table and outdoor sectional
-Community bathhouse has two full bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers
-Community fire pit has benches and chairs to comfortably seat 12-15 people.
We recommend you refer to their website ---> Foolhardy Hill | Campground | Charlemont, MA to check out everything they have to offer!
RTR has another trip out there next weekend (May 13-15) and we have the whole campground reserved for the weekend in the beginning of June for a banger!
We invite you to check out the sign ups for our program here: Rifles to Rods 2022 Event Application (google.com) and if you haven't already, apply for a trip. As usual, you are not confirmed for a trip until you speak with one of our staff members and get a confirmation. RTR receives a lot of applications and we try to get as many veterans out as we can in a fair manner. When selected for a trip, you will be sent a what to expect PDF document that can let you know more about the facility amenities and what to bring etc.
Staying at Foolhardy Hill is a perfect extension to our existing Fishing is Therapy (F.I.T.) - Fly fishing program. We look forward to seeing you there and getting on the water!
