The morning sun rose over Plymouth Harbor as 94 veterans made their way to the waterfront for what would become the largest Rifles to Rods event yet. The 7th Annual Stars and Stripers was more than just a day of fishing—it was a celebration of service, community, and gratitude.

As veterans checked in, they were welcomed with t-shirts, stickers, and warm breakfast tacos courtesy of South Shore Taco Guy. Laughter and anticipation filled the air as crews posed for photos in front of the Tresca Brothers truck and along the water. Then came the bagpipes, signaling the start of the morning ceremony. Kevin the bagpiper added a powerful and emotional presence to the moment as the American flag was raised high above the harbor by the Plymouth Fire Department’s ladder truck. Chris Ballerini delivered a stirring rendition of the national anthem, and Plymouth Harbormaster Chad Hunter and crew helped ensure the morning's operations ran smoothly and safely. It was a truly meaningful and patriotic start to the day. With remarks shared and a group photo snapped, it was time to board the boats.

Led by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Plymouth Harbormaster, the Stars and Stripers fleet—over 20 vessels strong—set out across calm seas under sunny skies.

The striped bass proved elusive at times, but nearly every boat managed to coax at least a few up for a quick photo or a trip to the cooler. More importantly, the day was rich in camaraderie and connection, the true heart of what this event is all about.

A huge thank you goes to Captain Mark Petitt of Plymouth Charters, our Saltwater Program Director, who once again pulled off the monumental task of coordinating all 20 captains and boats. And to those captains who gave their time, knowledge, and heart to make the day safe and memorable: Renny Cataldo, Roland Lizotte, Anthony Belculfine, Tom Lundy, Doug Bartlett, Jake Smith, Brian Cusack, Ed Bridgers, Russ & Meg Benassi, Josh Bows, Jack Cameron, Alan Callahan, Greg Piekarski, Brian Kelly, Timmy Arrouda, David Hobson, Sean Quintal, Ken Texiera, Jimmy Lyons, and Chris Ballerini. We also recognize and thank each hardworking crew member who supported our veterans on deck.
Special thanks to Russ Benassi for his unwavering drive in gathering sponsor support. This event would not have been possible without your leadership.

We proudly recognize our GOLD sponsors: Bentley Companies and First Nick—your support was instrumental. Thank you to our SILVER sponsors as well: Dynamic Interiors, The Drew Company, Simmons Concrete, Fastenal, Tresca Brothers, and South Shore Taco Guy. Your generosity makes a lasting impact.

Following the return to shore, everyone gathered at Tavern on the Wharf where Madison and the team provided an excellent lunch and warm hospitality. With live music from Dan Felix, a raffle coordinated by Noah, and plenty of fish stories shared, the celebration continued long into the afternoon.
Congratulations to Chris L., winner of our photo submission contest. Enjoy your $200 gift card to Public Lands!
To the entire Rifles to Rods team—Katie, Val, Gerard, Mike, Ryan, Greg, Brendon, Steve, Mario, Joe, and all those who volunteered behind the scenes—thank you for your dedication.
And most of all, to the veterans: thank you for your service, your time, and your spirit. You are why we do this.
